Auspicious Baby Name Generator - Thai Names by Birth Day

Looking for an auspicious name for your baby? This tool suggests Thai given names based on the baby's birth day and gender using the traditional Thaksa system. Pick a birth day (Sunday to Saturday, including Wednesday night / Rahu), choose a boy, girl, or unisex name set, and optionally set a preferred starting consonant. The tool automatically removes any name that contains a กาลกิณี (forbidden) letter for that birth day, then ranks names that begin with celebrated auspicious letters — Decha, Sri and Montri — first. Every suggestion shows its meaning in both Thai and English and tells you which auspicious letter group the first letter belongs to. Press shuffle to see other names, or show more to reveal the full list. Everything runs in your browser with nothing stored, making it an easy way to gather naming ideas before you consult family or a monk.

Pick the birth day to avoid its กาลกิณี (forbidden) letters and favour names that start with auspicious letters under the Thaksa system.

Choose a name set for a boy, a girl, or unisex names that suit either gender.

Enter one Thai consonant to keep only names starting with it, or leave blank to see every auspicious letter.

Frequently asked questions

How does the tool pick auspicious names?
It reads the birth day you select, finds that day's กาลกิณี (forbidden) letters under the Thaksa system, and removes every name that contains any of them. The remaining names are then ranked so that those beginning with the Decha, Sri and Montri letters — the most celebrated auspicious groups — appear first.
What are กาลกิณี letters and why avoid them?
กาลกิณี letters are the group of characters that fall in the final position of the Thaksa cycle for a given birth day. Traditional belief holds that they should be avoided in a name because they may bring obstacles, so the tool automatically excludes names containing them for the birth day you choose.
Why is there a special note for Monday-born babies?
Because the กาลกิณี group for Monday-born is all vowels, and naming without any vowel is nearly impossible. The tool therefore relaxes the rule and only avoids names that begin with a vowel or contain the letter อ, showing a note so there are still suitable names to choose from.
How do Decha, Sri and Montri letters differ?
All three are auspicious groups on the Thaksa wheel. Decha letters emphasise power, prestige and honour; Sri letters emphasise grace, luck and wealth; and Montri letters emphasise support and patronage from seniors. Many parents like their child's name to begin with one of these groups.
Can I use the suggested names as they are?
They make a great starting point, but a real naming choice should also consider the meaning, pronunciation, fit with the surname and overall suitability. Some families still consult elders, a monk or a fortune teller for peace of mind. Treat the results as a traditional guide, not a fixed rule.
Is the information I enter kept private?
Yes. All calculations happen entirely in your browser. The birth day, gender and letter you choose are never sent to a server or stored anywhere, and the tool is free with no sign-up required.
