Ad Copy Character Counter for Google, Facebook & More

This free ad character counter checks every headline, description and body text against the exact character limit each ad platform enforces — before you paste it into Ads Manager. This free tool counts Google RSA, Facebook/Instagram, TikTok and LINE fields live, handles Thai correctly so vowels and tone marks never inflate the total, and flags copy that will be truncated or rejected. Built for marketers and copywriters who write bilingual ads.

Google counts CJK characters (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) as 2. Thai counts as 1, so Thai copy is not penalized.

How to use

  1. Pick your advertising platform tab (Google RSA, Facebook, TikTok or LINE).
  2. Type or paste your copy into each field — headlines, descriptions and body text.
  3. Watch the live counter: green is safe, amber is near the limit, red means you are over.
  4. Fix any red fields, then use the copy button on each field or export everything to CSV.

  • Flags emoji, invisible zero-width characters and stray spaces that can get ads rejected
  • Copy each field, copy all, or export to CSV — everything runs in your browser

Frequently asked questions

Why does Google count some characters as two?
Google Ads counts double-width CJK characters (Chinese, Japanese and Korean) as two toward the limit. Thai characters count as one, so this tool never penalizes Thai ad copy — it applies the same rule Google does.
Are the character limits accurate for each platform?
Yes. Google RSA uses 30 characters per headline, 90 per description, 15 per display path and 25 for the business name. Facebook shows a "See more" cut at around 125 characters of primary text, with 40-character headlines and 30-character link descriptions. TikTok allows 100 and LINE Ads use 20 for the title and 75 for the description.
How does it count Thai text correctly?
It counts grapheme clusters using your browser's Intl.Segmenter, the same engine that breaks Thai lines. Stacked Thai vowels and tone marks stay part of their base character, so a Thai word is never over-counted.
Why does it warn me about emoji and invisible characters?
Emoji can be rejected in Google Ads, and zero-width characters — often pasted invisibly into Thai copy — can trip ad review. The tool flags both so you can clean them before submitting.
Is my ad copy sent to a server?
No. All counting happens in your browser with JavaScript. Your copy never leaves your device, and the tool works offline once the page has loaded.
