Thai National ID Validator

This free validator checks whether a 13-digit Thai national ID or taxpayer identification number is well-formed. It strips any spaces or dashes, verifies the official checksum digit, and tells you instantly whether the number is valid. It also decodes what the leading digit reveals about the ID category. Everything runs in your browser — no number is ever uploaded or stored.

Enter a 13-digit Thai national ID or 13-digit tax ID. Spaces and dashes are ignored.

The "Generate test ID" button creates a random checksum-valid number for form testing only. It is dummy data — it belongs to no real person or company.

How to use

  1. Type or paste a 13-digit Thai ID or tax ID — spaces and dashes are fine.
  2. Read the instant verdict: a green "Valid" or red "Invalid" badge.
  3. Check the computed check digit and the standard 1-2345-67890-12-3 formatting.
  4. See what the leading digit says about the ID category.
  5. Use "Generate test ID" to create dummy, checksum-valid data for form testing.

Features

  • Validates both the national ID and the 13-digit taxpayer / juristic ID
  • Live checksum validation using the official mod-11 formula
  • Decodes the leading digit into its person or entity category
  • Accepts spaces and dashes and shows the standard grouped format
  • Generates checksum-valid dummy IDs clearly labelled for testing only
  • 100% in-browser — the number never leaves your device

Frequently asked questions

How is a Thai national ID checksum calculated?
Multiply each of the first 12 digits by a weight counting down from 13 to 2, add the products, take the remainder mod 11, then compute (11 − remainder) mod 10. The result must equal the 13th digit for the ID to be valid.
Does the same check work for a company tax ID?
Yes. The 13-digit taxpayer and juristic-person ID uses the identical mod-11 checksum, so this tool validates both. Only the meaning of the leading digit differs between a personal ID and a company ID.
What does the first digit of a Thai ID mean?
It marks the holder category — for example 1 and 2 are Thai citizens registered on time or late, 3 to 5 cover earlier household registrations, 6 and 7 relate to foreign residents, and 8 covers permanent residents or naturalized citizens.
Is my ID number sent to a server?
No. All validation runs in JavaScript inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored, so it is safe to check real numbers.
Can this tool tell if an ID belongs to a real person?
No. It only checks that the number is mathematically well-formed. A checksum-valid number can still be unassigned, and the tool cannot confirm identity or ownership.
