Thai Severance Pay Calculator

Work out the statutory severance you are owed when your employer in Thailand dismisses you without fault. Enter your last monthly wage and length of service, and this calculator applies the Labour Protection Act tiers — from 30 days of wage after 120 days of work, up to 400 days after 20 years — and adds an optional payment in lieu of advance notice. Everything is worked out instantly in your browser.

Your final gross monthly wage. Severance is paid at this last rate, so use your most recent salary.

Length of service

mo

Total continuous service with the same employer. You must have worked at least 120 days (about 4 months) to qualify for any severance.

Severance is only owed when the employer dismisses you without cause. Resigning or being fired for serious misconduct means no severance.

If you were dismissed without proper advance notice, the employer usually owes about one pay period (one month) on top of severance.

Frequently asked questions

How is severance pay calculated in Thailand?
Severance is paid at your last wage rate, in days of wage set by your length of service: 30 days after 120 days of work, 90 days after 1 year, 180 days after 3 years, 240 days after 6 years, 300 days after 10 years, and 400 days after 20 years. The amount is severance days divided by 30, times your monthly wage.
Who is not entitled to severance pay?
If you resign voluntarily, or your employer dismisses you for serious misconduct such as dishonesty, a criminal offence against the employer, or gross negligence, no severance is owed. You also need at least 120 days of continuous service to qualify at all.
What is payment in lieu of notice?
If the employer ends your employment without giving proper advance notice (normally at least one pay period ahead), they must pay wages for that notice period instead — usually about one month. This is separate from and on top of statutory severance.
Does the 15,000 baht wage cap apply to severance?
No. That cap applies to social security contributions, not severance. Severance is calculated on your actual last wage with no ceiling, so a higher salary produces a proportionally higher severance amount.
Is this calculator legal advice?
No. It is an estimate based on the standard rates in the Labour Protection Act and does not cover special employment contracts, unfair-dismissal claims, unpaid wages or unused annual leave. For your exact entitlement, consult the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare or a qualified lawyer.
