Zodiac Clash Checker - Thai ปีชง from Your Real Birth Date
Most sites work out ปีชง from a bare Buddhist Era year, but the Chinese zodiac year does not change on 1 January — it changes at Lunar New Year. Anyone born early in the year is routinely assigned the wrong animal, a full year out. This tool asks for your actual day, month and year of birth, resolves your zodiac year against a Lunar New Year table covering 1900 to 2100 that was verified year by year, and then tells you plainly whether you are a direct clash (ชงตรง), a self clash (ปีคัก), a partial clash (ชงร่วม) or not clashing at all. You also get all four clashing zodiac years for the year you picked, with your own highlighted, and a 12-year forward table showing exactly when your next clashing year arrives. If you were born between 1 January and 20 February we show the answer under all three conventions in use — Lunar New Year, ลิบชุน (立春) and 1 January — so you can follow the one you believe in. What are ปีเฮ้ง and ปีผั่ว, and why does this tool not label them?
ปีชง is a Chinese astrological belief widely held in Thailand. It is not a testable prediction and should not be used to make important decisions about your life, health or money. The word "ชง" means a clash or a major change, not necessarily bad luck. แก้ชง rituals are a tradition for peace of mind, and nobody can guarantee a result.
The Thai version of ปีชง grew out of the Chinese idea of 犯太歲. โพสต์ทูเดย์ notes that the Thai version added its own severity ranking and dropped the five-element side of the Chinese original. The น่ำเอี๊ยง Chinese almanac house (publishing since 1939) and ไทยรัฐ (via อ.คฑา ชินบัญชร) both state that the older books recognised only one clashing zodiac year, and that "ชงร่วม" is a later Thai expansion, while Museum Siam dates the Thai temple แก้ชง custom to no more than about 30 years. If you consult a Chinese-tradition ซินแส directly, their list may differ from ours because that tradition also counts "ปีไห่" (害太歲), which in some years coincides with a zodiac year that already clashes and in others adds a fifth one. Thai media do not use that criterion, so neither do we.
