Frequently asked questions

What is a BIN and what does this tool tell me?

The BIN (Bank Identification Number, also called IIN) is the first six digits of a card. It identifies the card network and the issuing bank. This tool reads the BIN to show the network and, where the bank is in the local list, the issuer and card type.

What does the Luhn check actually prove?

The Luhn (mod-10) algorithm is a checksum that catches most single-digit typos and transpositions. Passing it means the digits are internally consistent, not that the card exists, is active or has funds — only the issuing bank can confirm that.

Is my card number sent anywhere?

No. All validation and lookup happens in JavaScript in your browser. The number is never transmitted to a server, stored or logged, and the masked readout hides everything except the first six and last four digits.

Why does it say the issuer is not in the local list?

The bundled dataset covers common Thai bank BINs as a best-effort reference and is not exhaustive. When a BIN is not listed, the tool still identifies the network from the prefix but cannot name the bank. Always confirm the issuer with the bank itself.

Can this tool generate a valid card number?

No, and it never will. This is strictly a validator and identifier for numbers you already hold and are authorised to handle. It has no card-generation feature by design.
