Frequently asked questions

How is dividend withholding tax calculated in Thailand?
Thai companies withhold 10% tax on dividends before paying you. On a ฿10,000 gross dividend, ฿1,000 is withheld and you receive ฿9,000 net. This calculator applies the 10% rate automatically and shows both figures.
How do I calculate my annual dividend income?
Multiply your number of shares by the dividend per share, then by the number of payments per year. For example, 1,000 shares paying ฿1.50 twice a year gives a ฿3,000 gross annual dividend before the 10% withholding tax.
What is the difference between dividend yield and yield on cost?
Dividend yield uses the current share price, so it changes as the price moves. Yield on cost uses the price you originally paid, so it stays fixed and shows the return on your actual investment. Add a current price to compare both.
Do I need to declare Thai dividends on my tax return?
The 10% withholding can be treated as a final tax, so many individuals do not declare dividends at all. Alternatively you can include them in your year-end filing to claim the dividend tax credit — choose whichever results in less tax.
Is this dividend calculator free to use?
Yes, it is completely free with no sign-up. Every calculation runs in your browser, so your share counts and amounts are never sent to a server or stored anywhere.
