Annual Car Tax Calculator (Private Passenger Car, รย.1)

This calculator estimates the annual road tax for a Thai private passenger car with up to 7 seats (รย.1, white-plate). Enter the engine displacement in cc from your registration book and it applies the progressive per-cc rates — the first 600 cc at 0.50 baht/cc, 601–1,800 cc at 1.50 baht/cc, and anything above 1,800 cc at 4 baht/cc — then deducts the age reduction for cars registered more than 5 years: 10% from year 6, rising to a maximum of 50% at 10 years and over. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How is the annual car tax calculated?
A private passenger car (รย.1) is taxed on engine displacement in progressive tiers: the first 600 cc at 0.50 baht/cc, 601–1,800 cc at 1.50 baht/cc, and cc above 1,800 at 4 baht/cc, summed together. A 1,500 cc car, for example, is (600 × 0.50) + (900 × 1.50) = 1,650 baht before any age reduction.
How much is the reduction for an older car?
Cars registered for more than 5 years get a reduction on the cc-based tax: 10% in year 6, 20% in year 7, 30% in year 8, 40% in year 9, and 50% from year 10 onwards.
Can I use this for a pickup truck?
No. This tool is only for private passenger cars with up to 7 seats (รย.1, white-plate). Pickups (รย.3), vans and trucks are taxed by vehicle weight using different rates that are not covered here.
Does the amount include the พ.ร.บ. insurance?
No. The figure shown is the annual road tax only. The compulsory motor insurance (พ.ร.บ.) is separate and costs roughly 600–900 baht a year for a passenger car, paid on top when you renew.
Will it match exactly what the Department of Land Transport charges?
It is an estimate based on the cc-based rates for private passenger cars, which usually matches the real amount. Late-payment penalties or special vehicle types can differ, so confirm the final amount with the Department of Land Transport before paying.
Should the registration year be in B.E. or A.D.?
Enter it in the Buddhist era (B.E.), for example 2560. The tool works out the car age from the current year automatically. You can also enter the age directly as a number of years instead.
