Frequently asked questions
Does the screen recorder upload my video anywhere?
No. Recording uses your browser’s built-in getDisplayMedia and MediaRecorder APIs, so the video is created and stored only in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and the file stays on your device until you download it.
Can I record the screen with sound?
Yes. Tick "System / tab audio" to capture the sound playing on the shared screen, and "Microphone" to add your voice. On some browsers system audio is only offered when you share a specific browser tab rather than the whole screen.
What video format is the recording saved in?
Recordings are saved as WebM, the format the browser records natively. WebM plays in Chrome, Edge and Firefox and in most modern video players, and can be converted to MP4 with a separate tool if you need it.
Which browsers support screen recording?
Up-to-date desktop versions of Chrome, Edge and Firefox support it. Screen recording relies on the getDisplayMedia API, which is not available on most mobile browsers, so use a computer for best results.
Is there a time limit on how long I can record?
There is no fixed limit built into the tool. Because the recording is held in your browser’s memory, very long recordings use more RAM, so for long sessions make sure your device has enough free memory.
